Looks like the episode has gone back to following the novel, since there are a lot of news and rumours out there regarding last week's episode, I thought I might just mention and clarify some of these issues. For those unaware last week's episode caused a huge uproar within the Chinese donghua community. Scenes from the trailer was removed from episode 41

Firstly, it is important that everyone understand, the studio had every intention of releasing the episode with the scenes from the trailer, why was it removed? Ironically, it was because of the trailers and teasers - a small number of people complained to the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film, and Television (censors) and then they reviewed the episode and deemed changes were required. The episode was reviewed three times, so it had three strikes issued by the State Admin, by the third strike the studio had no choice by to remove all relevant scenes from the trailer that was in episode 41 in order to release the episode on time or risk a 4th strike which might have the State Admin ordering a cancellation of the episode or worse the entire season 5

Secondly, the removal of the scenes has caused a massive rating bombing on season 5. this has caused rumours to spread that Yuewen Animation, also known as China Literature has sold off it's shares in Magic Motion, the studio that is developing BTTH because Yuewen's share price has dropped however it is important to note that this happened last year on the 16 Aug 2022 where it's stock price dropped by 12.7%, in fact China Literature's financial performance hasnt been looking good for a while. Also there is no actual evidence that Yuewen Animation has shares in Magic Motion, and even if it does it does not make sense to sell off Magic Motion shares since Yuewen Animation is a subsidiary of Tencent, which is the publisher of BTTH, it is like Disney which owns Disney plus withdrawing shares from Marvel studio. Again there is no evidence that Yuewen Animation pulled out of Magic Motion or that the drop in rating was the reason for Yuewen Animation's action if it is even true

Thirdly, it is reported / rumoured that the director or someone high up in the studio has made claims to change Xiao Xiao Xiao Yan's daughter to Yun Xiao this caused a lot of people to start to accuse Yun Yun fans of being responsible (because of the name Yun Xiao) for complaining about the trailers and they were jealous of Medusa and the said director threatened to cancel the entire season, it is important to note that this was said off the record and was said in anger, whether it is true or not, a lot of rumours and unsubstantiated news are coming out. Note it isnt up to the director to cancel the season or series, in fact last season's director was replaced by the current one, also said director threatened to change the whole story without Xiao Xiao, again not up to the director, since the author is also a consultant to the series

It isnt just in China, I recalled that in the US Elektra was killed off and some fan threatened to either do something to Marvel Studios or some people there. In Japan we had someone that set off a fire at Kyoto Animation causing 36 deaths, this was cause the culprit was accusing the studio of plagiarism. Also Genshin Impact, a character changed voice actresses, the new one was threatened to be snuffed out, yes a lot of crazy stuff happening

If they really do, they should know that novel is already finished, and its not upto them to decide what author wants to write. I can understand if they want to share that it should not happen or this scene is wrong, but well they cant decide what will come next.

yea its unfortunate that the whole series suffered a back lash because of select few bigots complaining to the censors but it's what it's all we can hope for is if they kind of wish to build up good will and is possible to re release the 41 ep's original non edited version as an special basically not making it a TV ep where more non PG stuff is permitted but if that even happens it might be after this season ends i dont know exactly the guidelines of the censors or if its even worth doing it its just sad this whole fiasco played out this way for the series

This show is losing it’s charm. Well how should I put this, the Mc doesn’t feel like the Mc or like your hard earn achievement is taken away by somebody else.
The current Mc give me side C vibes. The costume, the looks, character design doesn’t suit my taste actually. For me the old looks were far better. I think I'm losing interest & will watch a few more episodes. If then it can't meet my expectations I'll drop this.
